DO YOU KNOW…?

Isn’t it great when you go somewhere you have never in your life been and you meet someone who knows someone you know?  (yes, that was a long sentence -but how else would you write it?)

Doesn’t that just make you feel like you have an instant bond with this brand new acquaintance?

That happens to us pretty frequently.  We really like people and think that all sorts of persons are interesting and find ourselves in conversation pretty quickly.  Actually, it’s no great skill.  It’s as simple as saying a greeting and asking a question like, “Have you always lived here?”

Anyway, I thought I’d share a couple funny coincidental meetings.

During our first week in Ajijic we meet Ellice who has friends that we have up in NH and also is from the same area of NC that Mikee’s brother Jim is.

The next week in Jocotopec we met Nina who’s dear friend in the Cape is Jill -who we know from staying with her in Hawaii before she moved out here to Massachusetts.

We also met Colleen who has a friend Paula with in-laws in the circuit work from RI.  Well, we know Paula.  In fact, she was the nurse who helped deliver Austin!

In Manzanillo we met Josh who worked with our friend Paul when they both lived in NY and he is now is MA -with 2 little cutie heads.

My favorite connection is Wendy’s brother in NY.  That one just had me speechless.  I knew Wendy’s brother for over 20 years and he would talk about his sister and the rest of his family.  Then when we were in Ajijic, Wendy and her husband invited us for dinner one night.  While our kids were playing with her kids we had the rare opportunity to actually sit and enjoy some uninterrupted conversation with other adults.  To make a long story short, now I know why I feel like I have known her for many years -even though we just met.

And there is always someone that knows Grampy Norm.  😉  He is pretty famous.

So, even if you feel like you don’t know anyone… just say “hi” and at the very least you now have one more friend.

ps-now we just have to find out who we might know that will be working on the assembly hall construction project in Guadalajara.

Yeah, yeah, yeah,….you guys ARE pretty famous in your own right…and yes it is a knack, don’t sell yourselves short. You’re not so connected, so widely networked by accident. You’re fun, interesting and mega interested in others…and thems the perks. Glad you had a safe voyage and welcome home!!!…until…hmmm….when?
