A 21st Century Garden of Eden (by Austin)

Down here we met a friend named Moss. He’s kind of a mix of Indiana Jones and The Crocodile Hunter. He fears nothing, he loves animals, and he thrives on adventure. He’s been to 20 countries!

Last Saturday we were with him and he brought us to a friend of his’ house. The first thing we noticed was a HUGE tree. The base of the trunk was bigger than our car! The branches were more than 30 feet long!

Over walks the owner. The first thing I notice is how old he is. “Welcome!,” he says. He has a strong french accent. He walked with a cane. The man’s name was Rene.

“Follow me,” he says. He brought us to these cages next to each other. I go to the farthest left cage . I rub my eyes to make sure I saw it right and inside I see a toucan! It was amazing! Each cage had it’s own mark of beauty.

In the next cage I see a toucanito, or, small toucan.

We saw birds you would see only in dreams.

We saw birds small enough to eat. (not that I would)

And MONKEYS!!! (my personal favorite part)

We’re staring at these birds when Rene tells us to follow him , so we do . He leads us to a pool, and my heart jumps when I read what’s written on it.

Satan

1965

I take a breath, not knowing what to expect. Slowly I peer inside and this is what I see.

Satan is a crocodile! Rene has had him since 1965! I am amazed. Rene tells us he feeds him squirrels. Too bad we don’t have a picture of that. 😀

Rene tells us to come inside. We come inside and gasp. Our  mouths are as open as Macy’s on Black Friday.

He has the most amazing collection you’ve ever seen. He has Indian masks, dinosaur bones, mammoth teeth, an ancient baby burial pot (with bones still in it), and a METEORITE! This meteorite is about the size of a football but ways about 40 pounds! It’s been in the National Geographic magazine! If this was in a museum, it would be behind 3″ bulletproof glass, and I was able to hold it!

Austin holding a mighty heavy meteorite

Soon it’s time to go but first we need I picture in front of the huge tree.

PS. Tomorrow I have to go to school. It’s my first day in a new school. I’m kinda nervous. I hope I survive!

    SOOO COOOLLL Austin….What An Adventure!!!
Loved your commentary and pics, you had me gasping along with you.
The birds are beautiful and I’m so glad you shared this adventure with us all.
Did you see any amazing butterflies there and gasp accidently inhaling them.
That could be the butterflies in your stomach 🙂 WooHoo for first days of school.
One first day of school per year was quite enough for me growing up, but you get two first days of school in one year…hee hee. I’m rooting (is that a real word) for you.

    Lots Of Love, Auntie Nellie

    Austin
That is so COOL, I would have loved to see Satan too , and the birds are breathtaking. Really is beautiful. Going to a new school is always hard, but the best thing I think is nobody knows anything about you. Don’t worry about anything Austin you are a wicked cool kid, they will see that too, we do.

Hi Austin! I wish I were you right now, I have been shoveling forever it seems. I looked at all of your pictures and it seems really nice there. Well, it is Mexico! I hope you come back soon so i can sit next to someone in music class. See you next year, and I hope that you have a fun time in Mexico with the sun and not the snow!
