MEMORIAL FLOWERS (by India or YaYa)

Me next to the giant leaves ready to get flowers

First, this is dedicated to Gail. OK this is what happened…

Mom was writing the shopping blog post, and I was playing my piano ( or key board). Then the phone rings. Of course we don’t know which one 🙁 .

Finally Mom finds the phone and answers it. It’s our friend Bernice. She asks if we want to help her make the bread for the Memorial. What do you

think we say?  YES! ;D So we go and make the bread. Bernice and Mom explain to me why we don’t put leaven in the bread. Here’s why:

We do not put leaven in Memorial bread because Jesus’  body was pure and leaven is not. Also the bible describes leaven as bad and dirty things and

Jesus never did a single sin.

The bread is in the oven ( it was actually easy to make) and Bernice asks if we want to do flowers with her Sunday Morning. Mom says she would like

to come but she has to get her hair fixed  Sunday morning. So I said I’ll go.

Mixing the flour and water

Sunday Morning. I wake up extra early this morning.

Dad and I go to Bernice Goldstine’s house. The service group meets at the G0ldstine’s  house. Dad was going out in service so we

figured that we should just drop me off inside. When the service meeting was over I met Bernice in her room. We went to pick up

our  friend Julie. Finally we can go :D!

Bernice says that there is a really great flower shop and the guy has all the flowers ready for her. But guess what? He didn’t have the flowers ready and he didn’t have any flowers either. HUMPH! We panicked a little, but because Bernice and Julie lived here for quite a while so they remember that there is a flower shop

at the plaza. That lady was awesome! So I go home and we eat lunch and I told them about my day. After that Mom did my hair.

Mom did my hair special

...really special

She did Ginger Kitty's hair too

We made these for when you first walk in the door

This display was my idea

These flowers were as you came around the corner

We put this bouquet next to the speaker stand

The table for the wine and bread

Me with Bernice and Julie (and Mom and Ginger Kitty too)

We stood by the door to welcome everyone. (Austin, India, Selena)

Thank you for sharing these things. The flowers and the arrangement for the Kingdom Hall with literature were excellent ideas. Wow. Madi hopes to come to know you someday. She’s 10 years old. I think you’d have a great time. And I LOVE your name for your little sister, Ginger Kitty….sweet.

    Dearest India,
It’s Sunday and I’m catching up on my favorite nieces and their family stories. Your story was beautiful. Reading your account of your Memorial day makes me think and wonder about the preparations that took place when Jesus assigned a couple apostles (do you remember which ones, I do not and will look it up after sending this to you) to “go and prepare for us the passover celebration” which became the beginnings or foundation of our Memorial. Nice work! Time well spent on the most important day of the year! Oh…and in addition to your most noble preparations…you looked B-U-tiful! I love you so-o-o-o much. hugs & kisses. Auntie Nellie
