COMING HOME (by India)

Mom and I were coming home from visiting with Maria and Jasmine in Jocotopec and guess what?

We saw a circus parade.  Actually we got stuck in a circus parade.  This happened to mom before but it was my first time.

Want to know what we saw?

OK, I’ll tell you about it.  We saw a monkey dancing on top of a tall cage with miniature ponies and cute goats.  It was so funny.  I laugh just thinking about it.  He would stay still in his spot and only dance when the music started.

We saw a beautiful white horse.  We see horses every day all over the place but this one was super pretty.

We saw camels and llamas and baboons and mountain lions.  The mountain lions even had a cub.

Let me think.  Is that all.  Oh and there were ostriches.  They sure look funny trying to stand still and show off as their cage drives down the street.

We could see the tent way down in town all the way from our terrace.  So we got together with our friends, the Dorrells, and went.  Tickets were 20 pesos ($1.60) to get in.  Then Dad and Darren decided to get the front row seats for just 10 pesos more.  The front row seats were white plastic chairs and they were just a couple feet away from the animals.  There is no cage and the mountain lion was so close I could have touched it.  Of course I didn’t though.

I really liked this juggler.  He had so many things he was juggling and so close to the ground and never messed up.

You can tell a family owns this circus.  The Tarzan animal guy is also the knife thrower guy.  The bendy girl took our tickets.  The ribbon lady made popcorn and sold toys.

At the end of the show Tarzan comes out and let’s people hold the snakes.  Did I do that?  No way!

NOTE FROM CAMILLE:  There are no rules about copyright infringement down here so we see all kinds of US trademark characters in funny settings.  These Looney Tunes characters cracked up Mikee so much.  He still laughs out loud when he tells the story.

    Hi India!

I miss you! If we still lived there I would’ve gone to the circus with you too! I LOVE a Mexican circus – especially the jugglers! One time I saw a man juggle his two kids! He was lying in his back and he used his feet to juggle them – it was crazy! Thanks for posting your story and pictures!

Hi India, thanks for writing about the circus. I’m glad you guys took movies. I haven’t been to a circus in years and I loved watching your videos. The juggler was my favorite too. Those tigers came a little too close for my comfort. Looks like you have lots of fun in Mexico.
