ORANGE TREES & PINE CONES

This trip is not just about parks and shopping.

It’s also about catching up with family.  And the first family we caught up with on this trip is…

Grandad the Great & Uncle Harvey

The kiddos were also excited.

Austin remembers being a tiny little dude and picking oranges in the yard.  He also remembers motor homes and getting bit by red ants.  But the thought of picking some fresh oranges is exciting and he has the girls looking forward to it too.

First they helped pick up pine cones.  Lots and lots and lots of them.  They did a great job.  When you get to be nearly 100 years old, it can get a little difficult to get all those pine cones picked up.  So their help was appreciated.

Then they get to pick juicy sweet delicious oranges.  We love the oranges on Grandad the Great’s trees!

This house makes me feel like a little kid again.  Do you remember how you felt going into your grandparents home?  Where you could sit?  What they would offer for snack?  The games you played outside?

There are reminders throughout the house of my grandma.  I think that Grandma the Great would get a huge kick out of her great grand-kids.  All 4 of them.

That was a nice visit and afterwards we drove 2 hours back our hotel to get ready to get up early the next morning to…

those are beautiful pine cones. they bring back memories of my mother bringing me home some from her place in Ocala, Florida. they make a beautiful display in a basket. and to be able to pick oranges right off of your own trees must be something very special.
