We enjoyed lunch today at a favorite restaurant on the beach.
School and work and service take up most of our days. We have been on the “low energy” side of the scale and so we haven’t explored or even just enjoyed Playa del Carmen as much as we would like. So, this was a treat. We were in town to get the kiddos eyes checked. Exams are free.
The eye doctor’s office is on 10th which is just one block from the famous 5th avenue that people from all over the world like to walk and shop and eat on.
La Tarraya is one of the original restaurants in the area and is right on the beach. Seriously, it is literally RIGHT ON THE BEACH! Fresh seafood, great drinks, lots of live music (first we had a band come up, then a guy with a ukelele, then a guy with a harp, and finally a guy with a guitar all approach us and ask if wanted music), people walking off the beach for lunch, vendors with all kinds of neat stuff, people just coming off dives. It is so entertaining. We love the food. And it’s on the beach!
We started off with a pitcher of limonada and some fresh salsa and guacamole and chips -which we all dove into.
Then we all shared the “special of the day” -shrimp, fish and calamari with all the fixins.

Hey Mike, we had cherry cobbler which was fantastic! We went as a family and toured all 3 complexes. We got in for lunch at each one and also got some special tours which added to the already great visit. We all loved it. We stayed in PA as a central point and got to do some snow tubing and skiing. Andrew has been dying to play in the snow so hopefully he got his fill for a while. All in all it was a great week!
