Salamanders And Water Don’t Mix

So a few hours ago we started having issues with the water.

At first it sounded like the toilet was going to explode, like the water was coming in at 1000psi.

This stuff happened when we lived in Jocotepec Mexico, but we didn’t expect the same here in  “Mexico-Lite”.

The noise scared Camille so much that she jumped out of the shower (which was only supplying a small amount of cold water), slipped over the tile floor as she ran out to get my attention, and almost died. 😉

So I sent a text to Debbie our property manager saying that we had no water in the house. She is awesome. She always responds fast and gets someone over here to fix the problem.  Even at night or when it’s Christmas Eve/Day and we had other water problems.

After about 30 minutes, David the handyman asked me to test the water.

Yay! It works again.

The problem??

Curiosity killed the salamander

A salamander walked across the electrical terminals for the water pressure pump, shorted it out, and popped the circuit breaker.

The handyman removed the grilled drought maker,  reset the circuit breaker, and the pump started giving us water once more!

Woo Hoo!  The simple pleasures in life.

Hi Mike & Camille, You probably don’t remember us but my husband was at the Farm 89-94 and I was a commuter 93-94. We’re friends with the Perrego family. I went to pioneer school with Jaimie. Anyway, we have been reading your blog for a little while after Jaimie shared it with me. We are currently in Nicaragua for two months helping an English Cong in Leon. We are really enjoying it! Just wanted to let you know we are inspired & encouraged by your example. We may just need to pick your brains about need-greater life with kids, like the balance with homeschool and such, since they are trying to get us to stay/come back. 🙂 We started a little blog to share pics & experiences with our friends, it’s ljljfamily.blogspot.com (those are lower case Ls & Js) If you want to take a look, or contact us. 🙂

Hi there Jessica. We totally remember you guys! How exciting to hear you are in Nicaragua. I love your blog. You will find that you constantly see things or learn something about yourself that you will hope to express so that people can actually get a glimmer of this experience. Your kiddos lives will be affected forever by the opportunity to have this time as a family and focus on spiritual activities and see what really matters in life. Congrats!
