Happy Pi Day, again! (By Austin)

Wow.

It’s that time of year!

It’s the third annual enosfamily.com Pi Day celebration!

(You can read the 1st and 2nd Pi Day posts by clicking on March 2011 and March 2012 on the timeline to the right.)

Exactly one year ago, I was at a different house 1,400 miles away from here, wearing shoes because there were scorpions everywhere.

Now I’m near an open window, smelling the beach air.

This has been a busy year…

Anyway, today is Pi day.

Not that Pie.

THIS Pi.

The number π is a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, and is approximately equal to 3.14159 but continues indefinitely.

Still confused?

Look at your nearest calender.

Today is March 14th.

3/14

3.14

See how the date represents Pi?

That is why today is Pi day!

(imaginary cheer)

Pi Day is often celebrated with pie. (for obvious reasons)

Today, I’m celebrating Pi Day with you!

And i’m celebrating it the same way I always have:

With Pi memes! (yes, that’s what they’re called, memes)

Even my little sisters chipped in to help make some Pi Day pictures.

Kitty even made a Pi match game.

I cannot wait until March 14th, 2015. Then the date would be3.1415. Although I’ve never actually had a party on Pi Day, (or Pi, lol) I know I am going to have to have an awesome party then. It is one of my dream parties I know I absolutely HAVE to have. (along with a Back to the Future party on October 21st, 2015.)

We had a pretty good Pi Day. How did you spend YOUR Pi Day?

Thought Austin might like this… When I was a kid we had a dog named Mr. Pi. He was a Japanese Akita. They are large dogs, ours weighed about 150 pounds. He was also long-haired so, he looked a little like a bear from a distance. He was black with silver-grey on his shoulders and under his tail (his tail flipped over like a chow-chow or husky.) But, this is the best part, he had the greek Pi sign in white on his chest! Hence, his name, Mr. Pi. He was a good dog. 🙂

Mr. Pi sounds like he was the best dog. How many people would recognize the Pi sign and give him such a cool name? 😉 Maybe next year we can put his picture up on the Annual Pi Day Post.

Awesome PI day you guys had! My son Niko, 13, memorized 18 digits of the pi this year. We enjoyed visiting your congregation in Playa Del Carmen March 3rd and 18th. Next time we will come with the offspring Annika (7) and Niko “likes pi(e)” (13).
