Things have changed from the road trips we remember as kids.
Don’t get me wrong -we are still fans of the license plate game and the singing of songs and the grabbing handfuls of brochures at the rest areas.
But (as Mikee says) we have more technology in this car right now than NASA did in the 70s. We have a power inverter with an extension cord that is powering up our cell phones and Nintendo DS games, our GPS to tell us where the closest Sonic restaurant is, Camille is typing on her laptop (which the kids also use to watch movies) while Mikee is listening to Rascal Flatts on the iPod which is being powered by USB off the laptop.
Oh yeah.
(by the way, it’s 55 sunny degrees right now as we drive through Tennessee)
We are much better at this road trip thing. Remember last summer when it took us forever just to get through Pennsylvania because of all the stops? We have mastered the art of the coffee, gas, bathroom, food, stretch legs all combined into one stop every 4 hours or so. Much more efficient.
ps-we were so hoping to reach Mike, Rhonda, Carly by New Year’s eve, but it just wasn’t meant to be. We’ll see them today!!!
