Houses here have gates that are both decorative and a safety feature. Mikee was trying to figure out the nuances of the deadbolt on our front gate. What did he find out? It seems that it’s a safety thing that if you lock the deadbolt from inside the yard you can’t the the key out of the lock -just to be sure you don’t lose emergency exits. Our driveway has an automatic opener. (fancy) Of course the remote doesn’t work. Right now Austin as a job of squeezing in and out of the door when we come and go. He pushes the button for the automatic opener or he locks things up.
We are still not sure of which keys to go which places and which ones actually work. The important thing is that we can get in and out safely.
Here is what it’s like to drive into our neighborhood from the carretera (or main street) that passes through Chapala, Ajijic, San Juan Cosala, and Jocotopec. We are about 1000 feet up the mountain from the street level. When we make the trip up to our house, our heads are literally back against the headrests. It’s kind of like an adventure ride at Universal Studios -minus the corkscrews.
P.S. The noise you hear at 0:22 in the sunset video is NOT a gun-shot, just a firecracker. 🙂
